Learning to Dive is
relatively easy, it just requires a little time and effort.
At The Dive Shop we offer
a flexible training programme to help you to get underwater as soon
as possible.
Our professional staff
provide a friendly, relaxed learning environment with small class
sizes to maximise the time spent with each student.
During the Scuba Diver
and Open Water Diver programmes you will take part in 3 separate
phases:
Knowledge Development - This will develop your
understanding of basic principles and procedures.
You will learn things
like how increasing pressure underwater affects the way we dive, how
to select the right gear for your diving and what to do when
planning your dives.
You will complete much of
this in your own time, completing a little home study in your PADI
Open Water Diver Manual and watching the PADI Open Water Diver DVD.
If you prefer learning using a computer you can opt to use the
integrated the Open Water Diver Manual & DVD as a CD Rom package.
You will then review the work with your instructor and conclude each
theory session with a short quiz. At the end of the course you
will take an exam to ensure that you have a good understanding of
all the key concepts.
Confined Water Dives - You will develop all your basic
scuba skills in a swimming pool. And
already - You're Diving!
You are going to learn
simple skills such as how to set your gear up and check it functions
properly, how to get water out of your mask without surfacing and
how to float effortlessly off the bottom.
You'll practice some
'what-if' skills like sharing air with your buddy or how to remove &
replace your scuba gear with ease. You'll have extra time at
the end of each session to improve your skills and you'll meet many
new friends during your course - these could be the guys you will be
diving into the waters of the Red Sea with quite soon after you
qualify!
There are a number of confined water dives, each building upon the
skills learned during the previous dive. By the end of these
dives, you will have attained the skills you need to dive in open
water.
Open Water Dives - This is where you get to put all those
new skills into action.
You and your new dive
buddies will conduct some open water training dives with your
instructor and additional staff members to help introduce you to
diving in open water. You will repeat a few of your basic
skills and take part in an underwater tour to practice your buoyancy
control and check out the aquatic life.
All of our courses are
'performance based' which means you will achieve competence in each
skill before moving on.
This ensures that you
learn at a pace which is comfortable for you; encouraging you to be
a confident and safety conscious diver.
