Kungkungan Bay Resort - Lembeh Straits, Manado, Indonesia

The Lembeh Strait, arguably one of the finest destinations in the world for underwater photography, is famous for its unusually diverse macro life.  Here you will find a cornucopia of creatures unique to the region.  Seahorses & nudibranchs are found in abundance along with Inimicus Devilfish, dwarf lionfish, frogfish & mimic octopus to name but a few.

The KBR Resort boasts a magnificent position overlooking Lembeh Straits.  The resort has only 16 beautiful en-suite rooms, built entirely from wood, with ocean views.

There is an attractive restaurant and bar facility, built over the waters of the bay, and infinity pool with swim up bar.  The resort also offers a range of traditional Indonesian massage and herbal remedies.

This trip would be ideal for divers with non-diving partners who will enjoy the beautiful rainforest setting, idyllic location and relaxing spa facilities.  The dive sites are within a few minutes boat ride from KBR so non-diving partners will hardly notice you’ve been away for a dive!

Kungkungan Bay Resort

Lembeh Strait in North Sulawesi is renowned as being the planet’s epicentre of marine bio diversity. Here you’ll find a higher concentration of marine life than anywhere else on the planet. Kungkungan Bay Resort is located in the very heart of Lembeh, giving access to forty dive sites, all within fifteen minutes of their private jetty.

An intimate and exclusive resort, Kungkungan is staffed by a friendly, professional team who will look after your every need from the moment you arrive to the moment you depart.

In harmony with the surrounding nature, Kungkungan Bay Resort, or just 'KBR' to its many fans, is built on a former coconut plantation, facing the Lembeh Strait and guests dining in the over-the-water restaurant have an unfettered view of this unique and peaceful setting.

All rooms are sea facing, with three categories of spacious accommodation to choose from. The unique over-the-water restaurant inspires visitors with its spectacular views of the remarkable reef below, the Lembeh Strait and the nearby tropical islands.

Facilities at KBR include a private jetty with camera rinse tanks and hot showers, swimming pool with swim-up bar, lounge, internet access and lending library. Restaurant service is available 24-hours of every day.* (Limited menu after 10pm)

Diving at KBR is a hugely pleasurable experience, as the resort guarantees a maximum group size of just 4 guests to each guide, so there is never a crowd of other divers getting in your way. The speedboats can reach all 40 dive sites in no more than 15 minutes from the jetty, which means that you come back to the resort between dives and have plenty of time to rest, relax, eat, sleep, swim in the pool, change lens on your camera.....whatever you decide you want to do.

The exceptional year-round weather conditions provide a variety of diving experiences, from “muck dives” on pure black volcanic sand to colourful coral reefs and enticing historic wrecks.

Whatever your pleasure, Lembeh is always sure to offer fascinating and exciting underwater discoveries.

The dive centre, located just a few yards from the jetty, includes a camera room with bright lighting, charging racks (110/220v) and plenty of storage space for cameras and photographic equipment. The centre also has a number of large sweet-water rinse tanks for cameras.

Nitrox is also available.  For more information on KBR click here.
